Local HS Softball And Baseball Plus Rangers Drop Series To Sox

 

 

The weather played havoc with area softball and baseball games last Thursday and Friday with many games being moved to Saturday. The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers got their must-win game in on Friday but were defeated by Prosper, 2-0. The loss ended their season.

The Hughes Springs lady Mustangs won their one-game series on Thursday night to advance to the regional quarterfinals. They will take on Hooks in a one-game series Friday night at NTCC. That game will start at 6:00 pm.

In bi-district baseball action, the Mount Vernon at Hughes Springs game was finally played on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs came out on top by a score of 9-2. They will now face New Diana in the three-game series. All games will be played at ETBU. Game one is slated for Friday at 5:00 pm. Game two is noon on Saturday with game three to follow, if necessary.

The Paris Wildcats won their Bi-District matchup with Van in dramatic fashion. With the series tied at one game apiece, Paris scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning in Game three to win it 7-6. Freshman Devin Gaines drove home winning run. Paris will play Center in the Area Round.

Congratulations to the Prairiland Patriot baseball team as they won their Bi-District matchup with Redwater after winning game two on Saturday night. The final score was 3-2.
The Chisum Mustangs lose in two games to New Boston. 12-2 in Game one, and 4-3 in Game two. New Boston scored two runs in the 7th inning of Game two to win it.
In softball, Overton stuns the number 11 ranked Rivercrest Lady Rebels 6-3 in the Area Round.
The Rangers lost their third in a row as the fell to Boston 6-1. Doug Fister takes the loss as he gives up six runs on nine hits in six and a third innings pitched. The Rangers welcome the Tigers to Arlington tonight on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KPLT. Pregame at 6:30 first pitch at 7:05.

Justify ended the so-called curse of Apollo becoming the first horse since 1882 to win the Kentucky Derby without racing as a two-year-old. The Derby favorite won in the wettest conditions ever at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
