It was an interesting day in the NFL on Tuesday with the NFL trade deadline. Among the deals or non-deals: The Dallas Cowboys strongly pursued a trade for New York Jets safety Jamal Adams right up until the deadline Tuesday afternoon, but, Dallas thought it was too costly.
The Miami Dolphins have acquired cornerback Aqib Talib and a draft pick from the Los Angeles Rams for a future draft pick. The Dolphins are getting a fifth-round selection. The Rams expect their pick to be a late-round selection.
Washington Redskins Pro Bowl left tackle Tent Williams ended his holdout moments before the trade deadline. The Redskins had held firm to their trade demands for Williams and, sources said his value on the market wasn’t what many had expected. They wanted at least a first-round pick or a playmaker and nobody came close to that.
The NCAA’s top decision-makers voted unanimously Tuesday to start the process of modifying its rule to allow college athletes to profit from their names, images, and likenesses “in a manner consistent with the collegiate model.” The board directed the three separate divisions of the organization to immediately begin figuring out how to update their rules in a way that maintains a distinction between college and professional sports. The board wants each division to implement new rules by January 2021.
