    Texas Man Jailed For Murder At Durant Casino

    Choctaw Lighthorse Police have confirmed that they arrested a North Texas man after a fatal stabbing at the Sky Tower parking garage at Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant. They charged 20-year-old Antonio Anthony Latham of Gunter with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 52-year-old Phillip Wingfield of Atoka.

    Light Day For Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office

    The Hopkins County Sheriff’s office had a light day over the latest reporting period. No offenses were reported. Dispatchers handled 152 non-emergency calls and 50 – 911 calls. There were 68 calls for service answered, seven traffic stops, and they arrested one person for a misdemeanor.

    Dairy Festival Activities Continue Wednesday In Sulphur Springs

    The Hopkins County Dairy Festival activities resume on Wednesday, and the Carnival will be on the Civic Center grounds. It will run through Saturday. The Dairy Festival Queen’s  Coronation Pageant will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday at the Sulphur Springs High School Auditorium at the Civic Center.

    Autistic Boy Drowns In Lake Palestine

    Henderson County Deputies responded to the Lake Palestine area over the weekend to investigate reports of a drowning. Sheriff Botie Hillhouse confirmed a five-year-old boy with autism drowned after he walked away from a recreational area of the lake and fell into the water.
